Yep, the frame concern
Rayatphonix... Agreed. The alloy frame is a concern. I have shot it twice, a couple of boxes each time. When I get home I check that frame for cracks or weakness. So far, so good. I didn't know a "cheap" gun could make me this impressed. Heck, when I bought my first CZ... I had the same skepticism.

The triggers are better than my stock 75B on both of my Caniks. Accuracy is also pretty similar. It's definitely good enough for defensive use.

Also, concerning the frame durability, I asked the factory about the approximate lifespan of the L120 and got this from the CS rep:

"Thank you for supporting TriStar!

We love our pistols too. They are being made by a military grade factory and built under NATO spec. This means that the frame of the pistol must endure a 50,000 round endurance test in order to pass NATO inspection. Also, all parts must be chrome-lined and/or chrome plated to be under NATO spec. NATO spec is the highest grade quality of any pistol. So with that being said, the life expectancy for our pistols with proper care should be sufficient enough for a lifetime."
This thread sent me scurrying to get my hands on a Canik, but to my dismay, I can't find anything with a NYS compliant 10-round magazine.
Does anybody know if a 10-round Canik exists?
Have been looking for an inexpensive yet reliable truck gun. My brother has used an Argentine FM and while it won't win any beauty contests, it has served him very well in this role for many years. I will have to start making the gun show rounds as I have yet to find any Caniks locally.
You would have to buy 10 round CZ mags. Find a seller willing to ship without the mags.

I would call my FFL that handles my online orders. He loves Caniks.
Maybe he could facilitate a sale to you without mags or with 10 rounders.

I want a C100 but I'm confused about magazines. I want flush fit mags and I've seen the guns listed with 10, 12, and 15 rd. mags. Caniks site lists 10 and 15 rd capacity mags supplied with the guns but no 12 rounders. I don't want mag extensions even if they are 15 rd.. I'd really prefer flush fit 12 rd. mags. My FFL gunshop guy tells me he can get a C100 with flush fit 15 rd. mags.. Any info appreciated.
Thanks for the suggestion, Armor Snail. My local FFL, however, won't accept a gun without a magazine or one that has been swapped out with a magazine other than the "original configuration" as shipped from the factory. He said it's the law, but I'm skeptical. But I will give Easton a call and see what they say. I may need to shop around for another FFL.

I remember that report blog from Emily whateverhelastnameis from the Washington Post about her quest for pistol in D.C. She had to get mags swapped before shipping.

Also there are lots of no mag guns for sale on sites like Buds. No Canik but they sell them that way for CA single shot exemption for guns not on the list.

Might still be available. Possibly ship without the mags. Who knows.
Are Tristar pistols the same as the Canik? I see them at Academy for really great pricing, but keep passing on them.
TriStar is an importer of some of the Canik handguns and Century Arms imports other models for Canik.
As for the mags on the C-100, the two magazines that came with mine are 15 round. The CZ compact mags are 13 rounds, I think?. The CZ mags, of course have the thin sheet metal base plates but the factory Canik magazines have a sort of 1/4" bumper base plate. Mec-Gar makes the Canik magazines.

Yup. Tristar is bringing in several of the Canik pistols so don't be afraid to grab one from Academy. They've got the best prices on the Caniks as far as I've seen. $350 for the L120 and $325 for the C100 last I checked is pretty great.
Popeye: The stock mags for the C100 were 14 rounders I think. Tristar's website lists 15 round capacity on the C100 stock but I believe that is +1. I dunno, maybe the newer mags are 15 rounds but mine isn't.

Either way it will be flush fit if it's a stock magazine.

I have and my CZ75(s) are not use so much now....
I own a Canik 55 shark and an S-120. I would not ever buy another manufacturer if I were buying a 9mm. Btw the S-120 mags will work in my Shark C but not vice versa. If you decide to do the spring kit which I did on both of these pistols, It makes an astonishing difference and makes the gun almost untouchable a far as performance. There are some helpful videos on YouTube as the spring kits come with no instructions.

The Canik 55 TP-9 looks like a striker-fired gun But it says DA/SA?
How is the DA trigger on it?

No. The Canik is not as good or better than the Walthers it clones. It is overall bigger, heavier trigger, less refined...

^^ that would be CAJUN Gun Works. I put a spring kit from them in my Tristar P100 and trigger pull was greatly improved.
I don't remember any of my CZ pistols having any internal roughness, (posted pictures a while ago, nobody cared to comment after that. ), but regardless, I did get a chance to wander over to the Canik booth at SHOT, and handled a number of the Canik pistols. They looked and felt very nice - nothing had the number "55" on them, for some reason. Small booth, over against a wall.
I fired a Canik 55 on the range some time ago, this one, to be specific.

It felt very good, no burps, accurate and reliable. I have been shooting CZs and CZ clones, (I started with the Tanfoglio Force, imported as the EAA Witness, before I got into the original), and I can say that the Canik looked, felt, shot and functioned as well as I would like from any carry sidearm. Would I trade my CZs for them? No, but I wouldn't ever throw one out. The Caniks, Sarsilmaz and EAA CZ clones I handled at the SHOT show all felt like guns I wouldn't mind having in my safe or on the line.
